Mel & Dave’s Beautiful Brighton Town Hall Wedding

Last month I had the pleasure of photographing Mel & Dave’s beautiful Brighton Town Hall wedding.
I spent the morning with Mel & her family at their flat – a few streets away from where I live in Hove.
One thing that was clear as soon as I arrived – is that Mel’s mum is one talented lady! Not only had she made Mel’s beautiful wedding dress from scratch – she had also put together all the flower arrangements and bouquets for the day. A beautiful variety of pinks, purples and blues that matched the rest of the wedding perfectly.
Mel & Dave got married in the historic Council Chamber at Brighton Town Hall and after an emotional ceremony we took to the seafront to shoot some newly wed shots together. Mel and Dave live close to the iconic beach huts in Hove and we wanted to take some photographs in a place that was special to both of them (and where Dave had proposed!). The weather didn’t get the memo – but we had fun setting up for a few blustery shots beside the sea. From there it was a short journey to Alciston and Selmeston village hall for the reception.
Sticking to the seaside theme, Mel & Dave’s guests sat down to a delicious Fish and Chips dinner – provided by the delightful Flo’s Fryer.
Now, speeches always make me an emotional wreck – but I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room after Mel’s dad finished his touching tribute to his daughter. After speeches we headed out for the group shots, before the evening guests arrived to a stunning Thai buffet. Mel and Dave then took to the floor for their first dance to Lovely Tonight by Joshua Radin – before the rest of the guests joined them on the dance floor. Brett Butler of Hotsteppaz kept the guests dancing all night. There were so many lovely details about this wedding, from the homely DIY touches, to the emotional speeches and to the excellent song choices.
I feel so lucky to have been a part of it.
Thank you Mel & Dave – here’s to a lifetime of happiness.

The day was just as you say. Perfect!
The only disappointment for me was that my 5yr old grandson was ill and mum and dad had to take him back to the hotel early so they missed most of the evening do.
So much effort went into Making the day enjoyable for everyone and I'm sure we all agree it was a great success.
Melanie is a beautiful young woman inside and out and Dave is just as wonderful. I wish them a lifetime of happiness.
