A couple of weeks ago I went for a pre-wedding shoot with Mel and Dave to Alciston and Selmeston hall. A short drive from Brighton, this beautiful venue is located between the two villages of Alciston and Selmeston, nestled at the foot of the gorgeous South Downs between Lewes and Eastbourne.
As this is not a venue I have previously shot at, we decided to go for a little pre-wedding jaunt and explore the area that we will be shooting on the day. I always feel it’s important to visit a new venue with each couple, it gives you the chance to plan the best spots for group shots and scout the best lighting locations.
It also gives me a great opportunity to get to know each other better.
It’s genuinely important to me that I get to know each couple before the wedding day. I love learning how they met, how they got engaged and who they are as people. It gives me a good idea of how the wedding will be and enables me to personalise the service I provide.
After spending the afternoon with Mel & Dave, I can already tell that their wedding is going to be filled with so much laughter. They are both super natural in front of the camera (a photographer’s dream!) and you can tell just how in love they are. I’m so looking forward to capturing their day next month.
Here’s a handful of shots from our day….
